Epic Soccer
“With Epic Soccer we’re providing organized sports for kids who otherwise wouldn’t get to play,” says Jessica Bennett, co-founder of this Darien Soccer Association-supported organization, now in its second year. “It isn’t a fully structured typical game - sometimes it’s just kicking it around - but the athletes are building basic skills, building relationships with one another and with their high school mentors, getting a sense of teamwork, making great strides, feeling successful, and having fun!”

Absolutely Inspirational Ali Truwit
A year after losing her leg in a shark attack, Ali Truwit won two Paralympic silver medals in Paris and launched a foundation supporting girls in need of prosthetics, water safety, and the Paralympic movement. She’s been featured on national TV, at global events—and now in the swimsuit issue Sports Illustrated too!
The Mather Homestead
Of the 65 nationally registered historic landmarks in Connecticut, only one resides in Darien—a 1778 colonial home, now known as the Mather Homestead. One of the finest examples of 18th-century architecture in Darien, and home to six generations of the Mather family, with each generation enriching the home’s tapestry of stories, Executive Director Heather Raker describes the Mather Homestead as a “treasure that captures the unique history of Darien.”
